About Us

Gypsy Parvana was formed in 2006 by Artistic Director Mahira.  We began dancing at haflas immediately as we worked together to improve technique and artistry.  In 2007 we hosted Belly Dance Superstar, Tamra-henna, for a workshop and performance at our hafla “Shimmy Down the House.”  In 2008 Jamilla led the troupe during Mahira’s sabbatical after the birth of her second child.  In 2009 we were fortunate to host the Malia, of Malia in Hawaii and Bellydancers in Paradise, for a fun, energetic, and informative workshop. As 2010 begins, we have joined with other dancers and artists in the Panama City, Florida area to form the City Arts Cooperative.  We are housed in the CAC building in downtown Panama City where we have classes and rehearsals.  We soon will host more workshops and another hafla.
